Full Focus | Nanjing: Watch the finless porpoise for all! "seasonal restriction" along the Yangtze River

Autumn and winter are the best viewing seasons for finless porpoises. On November 18th, citizens’ representatives, volunteers and eco-photographers, as "finless porpoises observers", conducted a one-day observation at 13 observation points in Nanjing finless porpoises activity concentration.

It’s winter, and it’s also the active season for finless porpoises. Look, the lovely finless porpoise has appeared by the river in surprise!

Hua Chongxiao, a child, said, "I was very happy just now. The tail of the finless porpoise I photographed is a bit like love and very cute. I visited here once in the summer vacation, but I didn’t take a picture at that time. I am particularly lucky today, and I personally photographed the finless porpoise. "

Chen Yuze, a child, said: "I came early this morning. I saw that the back of the finless porpoise is very smooth and its head is triangular. The finless porpoise is particularly cute, and I like it very much!"

Jiang Meng, executive vice president and secretary general of Nanjing finless porpoise aquatic biology protection association, said: "This year is the third time in a row that Nanjing has held a nationwide observation. More than 200 people participated in the synchronous observation, which was distributed in these 13 points. There are not only professional monitoring personnel, but also nature photographers and nature lovers, as well as some social biology lovers, including many college student volunteers, and some citizens take their children to participate in this activity. "

From September every year to March the following year, the Yangtze finless porpoise stably inhabits the waters of the riverside section of the Drum Tower. Near the Yangtze River Smile Station, the Yangtze finless porpoise can be only a few meters away from the shore, and people can watch them at close range. In this year’s national synchronous observation process, there are still many unexpected discoveries.

Jiang Meng also said: "This year, it is the first time that there is an official record at the newly added Sanshanji observation point, where finless porpoises are recorded. In the Song Dynasty, Kong Wuzhong, a famous poet, wrote a poem called "Three Mountains and Rocks": The Yangtze River under the Rocks wants to go back, and the finless porpoises are infested with waterfowl. This is also an important record of the cultural and historical relationship between Nanjing and the finless porpoise, so we feel particularly happy. There is another discovery this year. From 7: 00 in the morning, the activities of the Yangtze finless porpoise have been found at various observation points, indicating that the scope of the finless porpoise is gradually expanding. This is also a very good sign, and there are more places suitable for the finless porpoise city activities. "

The frequent appearance of finless porpoises shows that the ecological environment of the Yangtze River has been effectively improved, and the "ten-year fishing ban" has achieved remarkable results. I hope more and more finless porpoises can settle down in Nanjing and keep the lovely "giant pandas in the water"!
